Brighton based pizza shop Purezza will open a new branch in London in February with a completely vegan menu offering wood-fired sourdough pizza, pasta, burgers, desserts, raw dishes, and gluten-free options.
Purezza are the UK’s only wood-fired vegan pizzeria, serving plant-based versions of classic Italian dishes. Founded in 2015, their aim is “to make our plant based menu superior to the traditional alternatives”.
We all know that when it comes to pizza, it’s all about the cheese. The team spent over two years developing their artisan vegan mozzarella, creating a plant-based cheese made from organic Italian brown rice, chickpeas and oil that’s “not only tastier than traditional mozzarella, it’s also less than half the calories and fat”. They also serve raw cashew cheeses, a ricotta style cheese and a creamy coconut cheese.
Pizzas come with a choice of sourdough, hemp flour or gluten free base. The dough is freshly made each day using a type 2 flour (healthier and lighter than double zero flour) and matured for forty eight hours before being served.
It’s a good week for plant-based pizza, after Pizza Hut’s recent announcement that Violife vegan cheese is now available on all pizzas across the UK!
