Temple of Hackney, London’s first 100% vegan fried chicken shop, has been so successful that they’re opening a new branch in Camden in January. With indoor seating, Temple of Camden will be more of a restaurant than a takeaway shop.
The menu is built around seitan, a vegan alternative made from wheat protein which has the texture of meat and is higher in protein than tofu and tempeh. Ironically the original Hackney branch is located right next door to a Halal butchers, Hackney meat centre.
What’s on the menu?
Temple burger – Crispy seitan fillet, bacon, cheese, lettuce, pickles & ranch mayo
Temple spicy burger – Crispy seitan fillet, bacon, cheese, lettuce, pickles & ranch mayo
Temple jr burger – Seitan wings with pepper mayo
Hot wings – Seitan wings in spicy buffalo sauce with ranch mayo
Twist wrap – Seitan wings with lettuce, tomato & pepper mayo
2 piece – 2 seitan fillets with mayo
Sides – Mac n cheese, popcorn seitan bites, coleslaw, chips & gravy
