When Nandos – the UK’s most famous chicken restaurant – is adding new vegan options to the menu, you know that positive change is happening. We’re happy to see another high-street option available that makes grabbing food with non-vegan friends a little bit easier.
Although they’re quite clearly not a vegan restaurant, Nandos do take a lot of care to segregate non-meat products from meat products. They keep a specific part of the grill for cooking only non-meat products, always use separate utensils and separate bottles are used exclusively for basting vegan and veggie products. Nandos bastes are also all meat, egg and dairy free.
What’s on the vegan menu?
New Supergreen burger, pitta or wrap – veggie burger with broccoli, edamame beans and kale (ask for no mayo!)
New Sweet potato & butternut burger, pitta or wrap – sweet potato & butternut mixed with red pepper, onion and edamame beans (ask for no mayo!)
Salads – the supergreen, mediterranean and quinoa salads can all be made vegan, just ask for no feta or buttermilk dressing
Sides – garlic bread, chips, mixed olives, houmous & pitta, chargrilled veg & mixed leaf side salad are all vegan friendly
Something sweet – mango gelado is dairy-free!
For the kids – sweet potato & butternut pattie with chips, corn on the cob, sweet potato wedges or supergrains, and a ‘chilly billy lolly’ for desert
